oldrialto.com is back!

We got our original web domain back.

The very day, in fact just a few hours after, we made THIS POST about changing our web address I got an email from my current registrar letting me know that the current holder of the domain has decided to let it go. This happened two months after they renewed the domain so they already paid for it.

It looks as though vodahost were watching our blog and once they saw that we were not going to give in to their extortion attempts they decided to give up. If it wasn't for our attempt to auto register the domain when it expired in August, we wouldn't have gotten the notice that the status of the address had changed from it's captive state.

For now the web address will bring you here, to the blog, but in the future we plan to rebuild the website.

Welcome back to oldrialto.com

Vote on our new web address.

Our old web address was stolen. We were hoping the current owners would let the registration lapse and we could pick it up again but it turns out they want to sit on it for another year. We don't want to wait that long and so have decided to simply register another web address.

We want your help in deciding on a new address. On the Old Rialto blog you will find a poll on the left side of the page with a few options to choose from. If you think one of the given option will make a good web address for us then, please, cast your vote. If you think something else will be better then we ask that you post a comment letting us know what you think.

By the end of November we will register the new address and will change the Marquee as soon as we can.

Our domain was stolen.

Our domain was stolen from us by our hosting company. We paid for the registration and hosting fees and the provider then yanks the domain out from under us and sell it to someone else, someone who has it for the sole purpose of reselling it.

We made an offer to the new owners of a little more than we paid for it ourselves and they shot us down. It turn out they was $2,900 for the domain and we just can't afford that much. Very dirty business practices on the part of our host.

Needless to say we are no longer going with our previous host (VodaHost) and are looking into our legal options for this matter.

We are in the newspaper!

We've been mentioned in the local newspaper, The Countywide.

Neither my wife or I were mentioned in the article but that's okay with us, we're not in this for the fame and recognition.

Stolen tools recovered.

We posted last year that someone had broken into the theater and stole all of our tools.

Early in January the Kenedy Police department contacted us to let us know that our generator had been recovered. None of the other tools were found at that time and to my knowledge no arrests were made. Due to the ongoing investigation we decided not to release this information at that time to avoid causing any problems.

Now, thanks to the police department and the awesome citizens of Kenedy, the person responsible for the break in and theft has been caught and every single tool has been recovered. From the Generator right down to the saws-all blade, literally every single tool stolen has been recovered.

It's not often that I, personally, hear about stolen property being recovered, especially something like tools. Add to the equation that we don't even live in Kenedy yet and I honestly thought we would never see those tools again.

Color me impressed, Kenedy, I'm falling even more in love with you. I look forward to the day that I can call myself a Kenedy resident.

Edit: I have been informed that this will be mentioned in the The Countywide tomorrow.

Marquee pictures.

It's been a while since this work was done and many of you have already seen it but for those of you that have not, here are a few picture of the work that was done on the marquee. Click on them for a slightly larger view.

let us know what you think.

New front page.

I'm doing some experimenting with a new front page. this one will make it much easier to keep you updated with with any news.

The old page required me to completely rework the entire page's HTML coding and then uploading the new page over the old one. Also, I could only do this from my own computer since it's the only one that has the web page templates.

This new one is as easy as typing what I want to say and then simply hitting enter, and I can do it from any computer that has internet access. Also, the other people involved with the theater can add news posts as well if they so choose (you can see who posted at the bottom of each news post).

updating the rest of the site will still require me to do it the old fashioned way but the other pages do not need to be updated as often. I do want to get the rest of the site to fit into this new theme though.

I may still need to do some fine tuning so please bare with me for a while.

oh, one more thing, you can now comment on any of the news posting. To comment, first click on the "comments" link in the bottom right of the post to show the comments so far. then, to post your own comment, click on the "post a comment" link that will be on the left. Try it now to get the hang of it, just say anything that comes to your head.

People as pixels, we HAVE to do this.

March 02 2007 by Purple Penguin

I just found something very interesting, Some people are doing something called the Game Over project. It's a bunch of people making stop motion movies of video games using people as the pixels. I'm not going to be able to explain this very well so I suggest you go check out the site (and videos)

Check it out by CLICKING HERE.

I want to do something like this so when we get the theater going. Who wants to be a pixel?

Plaque update & some info

January 29 2007 by Purple Penguin

The computer problems are almost completely worked out and I should be able to update the website some more now. To be honest though, there isn't a whole lot to update as of yet. With us not living in Kenedy the repairs are going to have to come in spurts. When we have enough money to actually be able to do some work on the place we'll be there to do the work. Until then feel free to e-mail us or chat with us through our forum if you have any questions or just want to get to know us.

Our Sponsors and Contributors plaque has been updated with a few more names. Give it a look over and see if you recognize any of them. If you happen to know someone on the plaque give them a big hug (or hardy handshake) and let them know you appreciate what they've done, it because of them that this project will move along quicker then if we were doing this alone.
